How booking a Bucketlist trip works: deposits, instalments, cancellation, visa support, and the fine print, written so you can actually read it.
Bucketlist is operated by The Experience Co. Our trips are invite-only. Applying does not guarantee a seat: every traveller is reviewed so the group energy stays right. A booking is confirmed only once your application is accepted and your deposit has cleared.
By booking a Bucketlist trip you agree to these Terms of Use, which cover booking, payment, cancellation, visa support, and how we run the experience.
To lock your seat, you pay a 20% deposit of the trip cost. Your seat is not held or confirmed until that deposit is received. Deposits are processed securely through Razorpay.
Trip prices vary with seasonality, destination, and availability. The price quoted at the time you book is the price that applies to your booking.
After the deposit, the remaining balance can be split into instalments. We share the payment timeline with you at the time of booking, and we send reminders well in advance of each due date.
The full trip cost must be paid no later than 30 days before departure. Seats with an outstanding balance inside that window may be released.
Plans change, and we have built a clear ladder so you always know where you stand. If you cancel your booking, the amount retained depends on how close to departure you are:
90+ days before departure
Cancel early and you only forfeit the 20% deposit. Everything else comes back to you.
Deposit retained, balance refunded
45 to 89 days before departure
By this point we have committed to stays, transport, and experiences on your behalf.
50% of the trip cost retained
30 to 44 days before departure
Most ground arrangements are now locked in and non-refundable to us.
75% of the trip cost retained
Under 30 days before departure
This close to departure, the full cost has been paid out to partners.
100% of the trip cost retained
We try to keep things flexible. Within the rules of your booking, you have a few options short of cancelling outright:

Where your trip includes visa support, our in-house team prepares and files your application and guides you through the documents. Visa support is provided on a best-effort basis: the decision rests entirely with the relevant embassy or visa authority, and we cannot guarantee that a visa will be granted. A visa refusal is not within our control and does not, on its own, entitle you to a refund outside the cancellation ladder above. Please apply with accurate, complete documents and allow enough time before departure.
We design each itinerary with care, but travel is live. Weather, availability, local conditions, and safety may require us to adjust stays, experiences, transport, or timings before or during the trip. We will always aim to keep the spirit and value of the experience intact, and to offer a comparable alternative where a planned element cannot go ahead.

We act in good faith to deliver a safe, well-run trip, and we work only with partners we trust. To the extent permitted by law, The Experience Co is not liable for loss, injury, delay, or expense arising from events outside our reasonable control, including acts of nature, transport disruption, third-party failures, illness, or your own acts and omissions. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for every traveller.
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes relating to your booking or your trip are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
